Beware of Vikram Zutshi, snake in the Ganga

Vikram Zutshi is the Los Angeles based editor of Sutra Journal, which serves as a smokescreen and front for his underhand agenda to debunk the Hindu renaissance. He claims to be a Yogi and filmmaker-activist. But behind the mask is a different story, one that is filled with Hinduphobia.

He has viciously and publicly attacked many prominent Hindus by name, including Yogi Adityanath, Narendra Modi, Subramanian Swamy, Rajiv Malhotra, Tulsi Gabbard, and MS Golwalkar. 

Vikram Zutshi has branded Yogi Adityanath’s organization, Hindu Yuva Vahini, as a “gang of violent street thugs”, and made sweeping allegations of Nazism against BJP, RSS, VHP, Hindu American Foundation, etc.

He is considered a vicious and mean-spirited man filled with venom against such things as: Hindu Rashtra, Hindutva, Hindu Right, “Hindu terrorism”, “pea-brained foot soldiers of the saffron brigade”, etc.

He is cheerleader of what he calls “a progressive Hindu counter-narrative to the one propagated by supremacists and ultra-nationalists.” To achieve this ambition, he supports the views of specific people he is fond of citing, such as, the USCIRF chair Katrina Lantos-Swett, Anantand Rambachan, Phil Goldberg and others of a similar ilk.

He roped in many innocent Hindu writers into his cabal. But several have left after their realized his bigger game. One scholar wrote: “Vikram Zutshi is one of those people who will go on as long as they feel supported by the dominant circles. But as a Hindu witness against Hinduism, he is fairly harmful.”

Another scholar said she resigned from all associations with him when she realized he was not a genuine Hindu, but working in alignment with some Westerners who are digesting Hinduism into their own intellectual assets.
